Lee was rescued from Texas by the Best Friends Animal Society's 'Clear the Shelters' program. In late 2017 a Category-4 hurricane hit the southeast coast of Texas, and in preparation for the storm, Best Friends relocated hundreds of homeless animals residing in Texas shelters. Desert Paws acted as a resource for Best Friends, and received several cats and kittens from the 'Clear the Shelters' effort. Handsome Lee was among those that we took in!
We don't know much about where Lee was before he found himself in a Texas shelter, but we suspect that he was a part of a feral colony. He possesses many of the personality traits that are common among feral cats: avoids other cats, often in hiding, shy of humans, and skiddish when approached. Fortunately, Lee is very food-driven, so he is occasionally tempted out into the open with yummy treats! Since these aren't typically traits that new adopters seek, Lee has settled in as a Desert Paws Sanctuary Resident. He is a happy and healthy guy, and we are glad to give him a peaceful and safe place to spend his years!
