Toby is a 3 year old grey and white tabby cat that was retrieved from the AZ Humane Society. He was scheduled for euthanasia because he reportedly had kidney stones, but fortunately, he had a Desert Paws Rescue micro-chip and we took him in. It turned out that he only had a urinary tract infection that was remedied with antibiotics. Now, with a special diet, he is as good as new and ready for his forever home.
Toby is a very gentle cat with a sweet and loving disposition who loves to play chase the laser light. He has already been neutered, has tested negative for FELV and FIV (feline immune virus), has an identification micro-chip, and is current on his vaccinations. If you are interested in adopting Toby, please fill out the cat consultation form (on the website www.desertpawsrescue.org) or email hadleyd@cox.net.

Tracey is a beautiful ~2-yr-old solid gray female with medium-length soft, silky fur. We think she’s a Persian mix or a Nebelung mix. She was found in the parking lot of an animal shelter. Whoever disposed of her didn’t even have the decency to take her inside. To make matters worse, Tracey is declawed, making her defenseless should she have met a predator while outside. Tracey was taken to the vet immediately after being found. She appeared to be in good health and her tummy was shaved to determine if she had been spayed. That’s when the vet noticed what she thought was a hernia and scheduled Tracey to come back for minor surgery. What the vet actually found in Tracey’s “lumpy” abdomen was not a hernia, but 3 large punctures that had healed over externally but needed to be surgically closed internally. She had probably been attacked by a dog. Tracey healed amazingly quickly and is as good as new, but understandably does not like to be touched on her tummy too much. Tracey’s ideal home would be with a quiet couple, without dogs or other cats, who will let her decide when she wants attention. Tracey likes to be with people, and will happily sit by you on the couch, but she doesn’t care to be fussed over. She likes to be brushed and stroked, but in small doses. If she’s had too much, she lets you know. Tracey has excellent litter box habits and keeps herself well groomed. Tracey has already been spayed, has tested negative for FELV and FIV (feline immune virus), has an identification micro-chip, and is current on her vaccinations. If you are interested in giving Tracey her forever home, please fill out the cat consultation form (on the website www.desertpawsrescue.org) or email hadleyd@cox.net.

Wolfgang is a sweet 7-1/2-month-old Black Smoke Maine Coon mix. He appears black but his roots and underside of his tail are smoky grey; you really can't tell until you turn him over or separate his fur.
Wolfgang doesn't mind being held and carried or being on his back. He is getting used to having his nails trimmed and being groomed. He loves playing with other cats and is fine with cat-friendly dogs with proper introductions for all. Wolfgang loves to play with dangling toys and laser lights. He has a little goatee under his chin and loves to throw back his head and have you scratch it.
He will eat fast and steal food since he was in a hoarding situation. Wolfgang's tail was broken when he was in the hoarding situation but he wasn't taken to the vet, so it healed at an angle. It does not bother him, and the only care given is when you brush his tail. He also will start sneezing if in a draft from a fan for long. When he comes to you he will curl up on your chest under your chin or in your lap. Wolfgang meows mostly only when he's in a carrier or about to be fed; other than that when you talk to him, he makes a short low purr noise. It's cute!
He will need to be fed kitten food until he is 1 year old. Since he has long fur, he'll need to be brushed 2x a week. He likes vertical scratching posts and towers.
Wolfgang has already been neutered, has tested negative for FELV and FIV (feline immune virus), has an identification micro-chip, and is current on his vaccinations.
