Type: Success Stories
Pet of the Week: No

This is what my humans know about me: I was a stray cat living and finding food on my own. Because I was very hungry and didn't know better, I ate something toxic and I became very sick with liver problems. A kind woman found me and took me to the Animal Hospital. I was very sick and had stopped eating. The doctors knew that without the right intensive care I would probably not survive.

I was placed with Desert Paws Rescue for foster care on September 10th. I had to be fed through a tube in my neck for several weeks. My skin was bright yellow and I was too weak to move for a while, but my foster family kept encouraging me and telling me that my liver would heal if I just hung in there. Slowly I started feeling better, started eating a little bit by myself every day, and my skin color returned to normal. I heard my people talking about taking me back to the vet so he could take the feeding tube out. But I didn't want to go back to the vet so I just took it out by myself. Now I like eating again!

I love my foster people, but I'm ready to go to my forever home. I like dogs but not adult cats, though I won't mind a little brother or sister. In my foster family's home I like to talk to my people, am full of purrs, and I'm very affectionate. It's a little scary to go to a new home but when I get my new family I will be the same with them. Please adopt me and give a very lucky kitty a loving home and share my story with everyone you know.

Cheddar has already been neutered, has tested negative for FELV and FIV (feline immune virus), has an identification micro-chip, and is current on his vaccinations.  If you are interested in giving Cheddar his forever home, please fill out the cat consultation form (on the website www.desertpawsrescue.org) or email hadleyd@cox.net.
